Exclamation I need help with floor time!

I would love for my piggie to be able to roam anywhere she wants, but I am afraid that she will go somewhere where she isn't supposed to and then she will get lost.

I have seen those little pin things at the store, but being my age, i don't really have much money to work with.

Any advice?

Or any advice on how to make a home made pin?
I desperately need help

-Kayla

Re: I need help with floor time!

I sometimes put them in the bathroom. There are no chairs or tables to get stuck under and the floor is easy to clean; a put a towel down too. They tend to like to go near the toilet and under the cabinets (it's like a tunnel). There are no safety hazards and we stay with them at all times. I also have a pen that the lady of the rescue we adopted from gave us. I put that down with a towel and they have fun resting in that. I hope that helps.

Re: I need help with floor time!

You can connect grids to section off a smaller area, or even use everything and anything like I did to make a decent floor time (since I didn't have any grids to work with.) I used cardboard boxes, a wash basket, a part of their old store bought cage, etc. But it's not going to work though, because they keep nudging one of the boxes and get past it. Piggy escape!

Also Walmart has playpens which are the multicolored caging for a fairly cheap price.

Re: I need help with floor time!

Everyone gave great ideas!

I use my grids from Target to section off areas, too. Although a box of grids from Target costs about $15.

I also use old cardboard from big boxes that I cut into smaller pieces and tape together, when needed. That might be helpful to you...

The grids (with cable ties) are really the best though, since you can size them to whatever area you have at the time - and in whatever shape - and reuse them over & over. I guess that doesn't help much, but...keep trying!

Re: I need help with floor time!

I assume by pin you mean pen? if so, what I used to do was to take anything with a decent sized flat side that piggies couldn't climb over, put it so that I could build an enclosure with them all and support the outside with something else like books or whatever. This makes a decent tempory enclosure at no cost. I used to use my mom's trays but with a bit of imagination you could use anything.
