Your awsome piggy...

I thought it would be cool if someone posted a post about some of the smart and cool things that your piggy does, here are some of my piggys cool things.
1. when she wants her cage cleaned she dumps her water bottle so half the cage is wet so i have to clean the cage.
2. she loves my dog and thinks hes her play mate (hes a rottweiler)

My piggies
chew the bars when they want pellets and
when they are happy, they jump on top of their foot stool and back to the floor again, really fast

Re: Your awsome piggy...

When I hold one of my pigs, she curls up on my chest while I read. And even when I hold her a very long time, up to 2 hours, she never pees on me, which I think is amazing.

Re: Your awsome piggy...

Dexter and Holly both know their names.
Dexter is a lap pig extrordinaire. He loves everybody, so we sometmes take him to nursing homes and hospice places because older people just love him to death. He just lays there and goes to sleep.
Midnight can popcorn about 6 inches into the air.

Re: Your awsome piggy...

When my pigs' water bottles get low, or they want fresh, cold water, they shake the bottle so badly I think the top will pop off!

When they want veggies or their hay is gone, they (mostly Queen) will scream and scream until the veggie plate has arrived. If they hear someone moving, or the fridge door opening, it's even worse. My mattress is pretty squeaky, and in the morning when I go to get up and it squeaks, the wheeking begins! They know breakfast is imminent!

Queen also knows not to wee on me. I can hold her for up to about an hour, and when she needs to pee she gets fidgety. As soon as I put her back in the cage she waddles over to the corner and does her business. I can't remember the last time she peed on me. If only Lola were like that! She usually lasts around 30min before she tinkles on my lap.

Re: Your awsome piggy...

My cavy loves jumping! He also plays dead, goes up the stairs (pretty common I think) and he lget's in my lap when I'm eating this one type of cookie I bake. (of course I share, cuz he's so darn cute)

You should not be giving guinea pigs human foods like cookies. They should only get plain pellets, hay, veggies, and fruits. Human food has too much sugar and other things that are bad for the pigs. Most cookies, perhaps not the kind you make, have milk in them also, along with other dangerous ingredients, and pigs should not have any animal products. Please stop giving human treats! The best type of treats for pigs will always be fresh veggies, no matter how cute they are!

Of course I don't give any animal products. They are basic oatmeal cookies with some molasses in them and water.>.< Because his pellets already have molasses in them, I am very careful not to overdose the sugar. It's a recipe I'm still perfecting. (They don't really tatse that great) And yes he gets loads of veggies, hay, and pellets just as he should. Was that strange? I'm sorry if it was.

Re: Your awsome piggy...

Do your cookies have any sort of egg products in them? Cavies are strict herbivores, and should not have any type of animal product.

For a special treat, you could try maybe freezing a small piece of fruit into an ice cube, offer some pure unsweetened fruit juice in very limited amounts, or cut the top off a bell pepper and stuff it with favourite veggies.

Umm, are there eggs in your cookies? That's an animal product. Milk? Another animal product. Butter? Yep, animal product #3. Past those ingredients, cereal grains like oats, wheat, rice, etc. are really not good for guinea pigs as they have very little of the nutrition your pigs need.

It would really be a much better idea to eat cookies away from your pigs and snack on fruit or veggies if you want to share with them when they climb into your lap.

As I said before, oatmeal, water, and molasses. that's it. ^_^ If you have any other questions. Ask me by private message. I'm only asking because they take the purpose away from this fourm.

Re: Your awsome piggy...

Oatmeal is not good for them, lots of sugar is not good for them, if you mix them together it's still not good for them.
The only thing in your recipe that is fine is water.

Yes that is far too many carbohydrates for a cavy.
