Well you should give it floor time if you want it to bond and interact with you and if it's living in a cage, especially if it's a small cage. I think even if he lived in a mansion that he'd like to stretch his legs out sometimes and explore new surroundings. Even more so if he doesn't have a friend to play with and he just hangs around in the cage all day being bored.

Thank you so much. Yesterday I gave Ozzy Boy some play time, set an igloo out, a water bottle, and food, and he seemed to love it. He liked to explore under my bed though ( is this okay?) and he loved hiding in the dark spot and then poking his head out again. I love it thanks so much for the advice

How delightful that he enjoyed it! My bunny has his own little bunny den under my bed and he loves napping there. I cleaned it out and vacuumed it all first, though. Sure, let your piggy go under the bed but check that there aren't any wires or cables or anything that he can eat and choke on! Floor time is also a good time to have him eat vegetables out of your hand! And maybe give him a pile of hay and see if he likes to frolic and jump and hide in it.

Re: Is it bad if you don't give piggies floor time?

I bought a little play pen for my piggies at wal mart, *its only 10$*
and they all love it! Also try leaving a stuffed animal so it can cuddle with. They also really like boxes, towels, and a few toys they might be intestered in.
Anyways, I'm glad you gave him some floor time .

If you don't want to give your pigs floor time make them a c&c pen or a chicken wire cube to go around the out side of the room, if you don't want to do that then give them lots of cuddles and bonding time.

Re: Is it bad if you don't give piggies floor time?

Mine have an outdoor run, as they aren't really allowed indoors due to family members with allergies. They do live in a shed but there's no room in there for a run. So obviously I miss the odd day of floor/run time when it's raining, then I just give them cuddle/lap time inside the shed, and/or swap which cage they're in so they get to explore new surrondings.
But otherwise, run/floor time is essential. Guinea pigs LOVE it! You'll see them popcorning (Twinkle popcorned today, it was pretty surprising as she's 5 years old and wearing a foot bandage as well). That's basically dashing around, sometimes jumping onto things. Once my Mushroom hopped up onto a round pipe, it looked impossible yet I went to her cage to find her sitting there happily! Don't ask me how she got up there!
