Question outside

I think my pigs hate going outside. I have taken them out at least three times and all they do is sit in one spot the whole time. Does anyone else have the same problem?

It took at least 6 times outside before my girls decided to move around and eat some grass. My husband didn't fertilize part of the lawn so they would have a clear patch of grass to munch on. Please just make sure they are safe from running away. I never realized how fast a little piggy could run until mine got scared one day and took off. Thank goodness no one was injured or lost!

I have them in one of those fences they sell at WalMart. They definately can't get away. Hopefully they get used to it while there is still dandelions and clover to eat!

What are the colored things you are using for their pen? I've got a Walmart but don't even know what section to look in. Looks like they'd make a good alternative to grids for cages if you couldn't find the wire cubes.

Why not add a couple hidey houses or tunnels until they get used to being outside? Be careful in hot weather and direct sun with no shade, your piggies could get heat stroke. They are probably nervous because they are out in the open with no cover.

Chut loves to eat grass and does not stop when he is outside! He is very active and runs around. He is my shy on einside, but he reverses outside! Pig, however, sits in the sun, basking, and only moves when he hears an airplane (those scare him). He sometimes munches grass, but just lays there otherwise. He is my running pig inside, though! They are so funny, they flip personalities outdoors!

Those colored things are a "playpen". I got mine at PetsMart. It folds up easily for storage. We only use it for outside time and to block off the area underneath the entertainment center during floor time.

I got the playpen at WalMart for 9.99. There is a section for small animals. It was not hot when I took them outside and there was also a breeze. I did have a house out there but they just sit inside that as well. I guess it will just take time.

Oh!! I just bought one of those too!!!!!!! I have a covered run I made, but wanted to be able to pick them up with out opening a door. So I bought the little pen from walmart. It works great.. Except for one of my males can climb over it, I know gps aren't supposed to be able to climb. But he just stands on his hind legs and climbs over the pen... He is being a silly piggy...
My piggies love the outside...

Who ever posted the pics of their piggies using the little colored play pen, has a really nice green lawn..

They were my pics. You would think seeing that nice green lawn would make them hungry. But they didn't even take a little nibble. Of course they are more than happy to devour it when I bring it inside for them!

Your lawn is amazing so green and nice, I am surprised they don't pig out right when you place in the grass. My piggies would be in heaven if our lawn looked like that...

Dinner time!

I added some hidey houses when I took my pigs out today. They ate that grass like it was going to be gone tomorrow! I just wish they would run around out there and get some exercise!

Re: outside

Most of the time, my pigs just sit in their hidey holes and eat grass from there!

Re: outside

My Zorro gets so nervous outside that when he's done eating he climbs right up my body and puts his head on my shoulder like a little baby! Is he the cutest!!!
