Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
So I'm adopting cavies in October and I am thinking of places to have floor time. So I wanted to know if letting them outside WITH supervision under a big tree for shade, on grass that has been treated with fertilizer and other treatments, but not recently. If yes, how long would I have to wait to let them on the grass after its been treated? Do you know what I mean? Thanks to everyone who responds/understands. |

Do "NOT" place pigs out on the grass that's been recently fertilized. Undersupervision, a definate yes. Consider building an enclosure that's waist high or above. Secure the base to the ground, my pigs have tried to sneak out. Chicken wire works well for me. Consider other animals that could try and get in ie dogs and cats. Also, use netting over the top of the pen to prevent birds, ie hawks, eagles and other birds that would prey on pigs. Pigs must have hideys for security in the pen. Look in the enclosure for things unsafe for pigs, sharp twigs, branches, unsafe forages (see Ly's list). Be sure to bring them in when retiring for the night, when the weather looks grim or when your taking a short trip to the store. It only takes one time to leave your pigs unattended when something can go wrong. |
