Grass?

I was wondering...

My friend lets her piggies outside in her front yard to graze on her grass. She watches them and has them in a little like, dog pen. They seem to love it. I was just wondering if this safe for the piggies? If regular grass like that is safe for them to eat.

Re: Grass?

Yes regular grass is fine for them. When I actually had grass in the yard before it got cold I took my pigs outside in a playpen to graze or I would go get huge handfuls of grass and bring it in for them in their cage. You just can't use grass/let pigs graze on grass that has been treated with pesticides.

Re: Grass?

When its not winter I bring handfuls of grass to my piggies every day and they love it more than anything else....you just have to be careful that there is nothing used on the grass and that no pets have urinated on it as well.

Re: Grass?

It's fun hand-feeding them grass too - I use to play tug of war with them - so cute! They also LOVE dandelions. I use to live in the suburbs, so of course I'd take my guinea pig out to play all the time. But I live in the city now, so I have no access to grass (well, wouldn't trust it) nor dandelions. I was in the grocery store the other day and saw they were selling dandelions for $3.75 / lb. Man did I take a lot of things for granted.
