Can my pigs get fleas from a lawn?

So I would like to let my guinea pigs out to run around outside on a lawn to get some fresh air for a little while. It's been a nice day and I think they would like it. My only concern is that I live in California and there are fleas all over. My dog is on frontline and doesn't have fleas. I would hate for my guinea pigs to get fleas and get sick. Also I don't want fleas in my house.

Pigs can get fleas, but it's very rare and treatable with Advantage or Revolution if they do get them.

Yes, my two piggies are on Revolution here in Florida, and the dog on Frontline Plus. They share a vial for kittens as prescribed by our vet. The fleas are worse here than I ever had in California.

Thanks. I'm still reluctant to let them out on a lawn. I've let them out on the deck twice as long as it's not to cold. I would hate to get fleas. I don't want fleas in my house. Fleas and tic's are everywhere here. I got a tic walking to my front door. Yuck!

Oh man, the fleas were so horrible in Texas last year. You would be out in the yard not 2 minutes before you'd see them crawling up you leg! We had to have the yard sprayed, so there was no more outside time for the piggers. Darn fleas spoil everything

One other point. Fleas don't just cause skin irritation, they carry tapeworms. I can only imagine what they would do to something as small as a guinea pig.
