| Ok so I just finished my new outdoor area, my pc is right next to the slider so I can have it open and be on here and have an eye out for my pigs. Well this is their third day being outside. And I just went out there and found two snakes, they are the gardening ones with the yellow stripes down them. They were near the pen but not in it. One snake was small and one was big but not big enough to gobble a whole pig like how snaked eat. But ive NEVER seen snakes in my yard till now! Are my pigs safe? Or will more bigger snakes come? I grabbed one and moved him far from my fence line, but if he wants he can come back. Has anyone had any trouble with garden snakes? They do only eat mice and bugs right? |

| Re: Aaahhh Snakes!! Snakes come when they smell food. I wouldn't underestimate how big an animal a snake could eat. A piggie is just a rather large mouse to them. If you can't sit right next to the pigs while they're out, I'd not put them on the grass. |

| Re: Aaahhh Snakes!! I'm sure if small snakes are coming, bigger ones won't be far behind. Even if they can't totally eat the pigs they might kill one trying also. There are many other predators to worry about too-- hawks, owls even neighborhood dogs and cats. Anything that would eat a rabbit could eat a pig also.
