What is too hot? I've read different things, I've seen no higher than 78, I've also read no higher than 80. Ideally we would like to keep them outside but I'm not convinced. |

You should never keep guinea pigs outside no matter what temperature. EDIT:See this tread (scroll to outdoor housing part) http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...r-threads.html Last edited by Jenni_Feathers; 11-18-07 at 03:40 pm. |

Also ran out of editing time and wanted to add: That the ideal temperature range is between 65*F and 75*F. |

I live in Central Florida and there is no way to house cavies outside safely. Temperatures are too high, no to mention the added heat in direct and indirect sunlight. I have seen so many horrible situations, I have seen so many heat strokes, deaths, and dehydrated pigs from people who thought they had the "perfect setup". Florida is not the place for outdoor cavies, period. If you can't house them safely inside, I would rehome them. Putting them outside would compromise their health and likely cause death. |
