New Grazing Pen????

Hello,

For now, the homemade outdoor grazing pen is plenty fine for my piggies, but I'm looking down the track for the summer.

We have a gazebo, and my Mum wants to take up the stones and pave. Well she did want to pave, now she is looking for ideas as paving is expensive and a lot of hard work.

So I suggested we put a good fence the piggies can't jump over or get through around the gazebo, plant grass, clean out the dog kennel (we don't have a dog anymore because my Mum became alergic) so the piggies can shelter and turn it into a Guniea Pig grazing area.

Okay, so I need suggestions on fencing, and most of all, opinons. Thanks in advance!

Re: New Grazing Pen????

I would suggest chicken wire and wooden stakes, they are cheap(at least in the us) and easy to find I made this pen for only $20. It is 50ft of 24" high chicken wire with 20" wooden stakes holding it up. http://www.guineapigcages.com/photos...00/ppuser/6820

Re: New Grazing Pen????

Do you have any pictures of the yard and the gazebo? We might be able to help you better with the specifics if we can see the space you are working with.

Re: New Grazing Pen????

I spent hours going through Bunnings looking for something to use as a grazing pen for my piggys, I ended up using three 3m bamboo garden edge rolls, held in place with wooden garden stakes. You also need a little bit of wire to make all the ends join up. It looks a little less industrial than straight wire and it's reasonably easy to move as you can roll it up and repeg it somewhere else. Another tip I found useful is to hammer a few U shaped fencing pegs to make it more stable and impossible to escape underneath.
