I have a pen that I use to put my GPs outside. How hot is too hot (in degrees) for them even if they have shade cover? I never put them out in the mid day sun, but I still don't want to overheat them. Thanks!       |

My understanding is that a guinea pig's ideal temperature range is between 65-75 F, and between 40-70% humidity. Personally, I don't take my guinea pigs outside if it is over 75 F in the shade. Also, very high humidity could be a problem, even if the temperature is lower. I also add a water bottle to their pen with cool water to make sure they are hydrated. Hope that helps! |

Another good idea (thanks Muffin!) is that if you feel comfortable sitting outside for five minutes in a T shirt and shorts, then it is probably fine for your piggies. If you feel too hot, or too cold - then it is probably too hot or cold for them too! |
