Hope this helps! =)

If you are with them they wont drown

Oh! What you should do, you should put all your piggies on the edge of the pool and take a picture and then show them racing and then a picture of the getting out and one of them towelling down!!

That's amazing! I laughed so hard when I saw these pictures. How deep is the pool?

Re: guini ok 2 be swimming????!!!!

LOL thanks for the replies guys the pool was about a metre deep up the shallow end then got pretty deep down the other end as its an inground pool...it was a salt water pool I wouldn't of let them go in a chlorinated pool. He got me worried when he took off down the deep end but they are so incredibly fast at swimming I wouldn't have been able to catch him anyhow. The longhair just looked like a " mop "...oh i mean a floating mop ...but yeah I don't intend on ever doing it again it was simply an experiment and they were very closely watched. I guess the pictures help though when sometimes people ask if pigs can swim and how deep etc etc etc....

It gets so hot here in Australia in summer though so in the midst of summer i may get one of those little shallow containers ( aruond 5-7cm deep ) for them around 1m x 1m to let them have a walk around around in...

The gold/white boy in the pictures is " Rodney " he was names after the Dr Dolittle guinea pig ...he thought he was smart and cheeky as him to! Sadly Rodney passed away the end of last year. He was around 6 years old.

Re: guini ok 2 be swimming????!!!!

We have a kiddie pool, and fill it 3" deep on really warm days. There are 3 large bricks in the pool, just in case they don't want to paddle around anymore. We float carrots & apple slices in the water, and stay right with them. Our boys love it. They'll use the bricks as diving boards, and will see who can shove the most carrots into their "half" of the pool. I dunno if they're hoarding them or playing keepaway, but they seem to have so much fun!

While I would never, ever put piggies in a deeper pool, ours absolutely adore playing in shallow water on hot days.

Re: guini ok 2 be swimming????!!!!

I had mine in the bath the other day - long story - and they had a great time swimming up and down. Took ages to blow dry their hair after, though!

Re: guini ok 2 be swimming????!!!!

Mine doesn't even like the sound of running water. He freaks out and scrambles up my arm! Last year though, I was in our inflatable kiddie pool and I filled it to 6" in. and laid in it wiht my piggy sitting on my stomach. The water was about an inch on my belly and he just sat there with me. He has black fur, though, so he heats up quickly.

Please look at the dates on threads before replying to them. If the thread is older than 2 months and you have nothing really beneficial to add to an old thread, it's better to just leave it be.

If you ask me it sounds like it would be fun as long as your extra safe and cautious, but mostly make sure your piggy is happy with what there doing.

Apparently not. To reiterate what Ly ALREADY said a couple posts up:

If you don't know how to find out how old a post is, just look at the upper left hand corner of each post. You will find a date.

I think it's time to close this thread because people cannot follow simple directives.
