Is that big three story, you can say, crittertrail alright for two female mouses? I have been contemplating whether or not I would want mice or rats? I know if I get rats I need to buy a brand new cage. However, I want to use this cage I already have for future mice, but will they be able to escape and if I put another wheel in their will it give them enough room.       |

I had mice in a Super Pet Rat cage. It has 1/2 inch spacing and they never got out. I think the Critter Trail cages has a little bit closer spacing so you should be ok. I suppose if really depends on the mouse though. If they wanted to bad enough, I heard they cage get out. I have 3 cats and I think it was a good reason for them to like there home! |

For size, that's great for two mice. As far as wire spacing goes, if they aren't super escape artists, your mice shouldn't be able to get out. Hope it all works out well! |

Alright thanks for all your help, however, I keep hearing that mice poop and pee all over the place and they smell, therefore I feel I might want rats. Are there certain sizes you can buy rats and if I get two female rats, can you guys give me links to good cages around 100$ or less. Thanks for all your help. |

Martin's cages are great! It spacing on the ramps and floors are small enough for rats to live on. When I had a Martin's cage, I covered the floors with fleece but the ramps were fine. The Super Pet Home for Exotics is a decent cage for 2 rats also. It is about $100 from Petsmart. I would check around on craigslist, sometimes you can find a good cage there. If you google rat cage calculator, it helps find the right size cage for how many rats you want. |
