Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 My hamster is driving me crazy. She has aspen bedding. Every day she takes all her the bedding and stuffes it in her wheel and the rest in her igloo so she has no bedding in the rest of the cage. Any one have any idea why she does this or what I can do? Can I use fleece for hamsters? |

I don't know what she's doing but maybe you should try putting in more bedding. I know you can't use fleece because they need to burrow. I think you should get a metal wheel so it just goes through bars. |

You can use fleece for hampsters but they like burrowing and mine wasn't satisfied without anything to dig a den in. |

I used to put tons of bedding in but when she started to stuff it in her wheel and her igloo I started using less. I could get a metal wheel but she will still put it in her igloo and the wheel would take up too much space. |

My hamsters (3 in total) always did that. They like to make "nests" to sleep in. I cleaned off their wheels everyday. I remember my first hamster, Miss Whiskers (lived to be 3 but died of cancer) did it the most. She would take tons of bedding and put it in a corner of her cage. I'd just add more bedding personally. But she puts it in her wheel and the wheel is stuffed full so she cant get in it and the igloo is stuffed full so she can't get in it. |

Fleece is not appropriate for hamsters as they will chew it up. What size cage do you have? |

It's natural for them to do that they are nesting animals, So she is probably trying to make a nest for her to borrow and sleep in. The only thing I can say is what others here have told you. use more bedding. |

I have 2 cages like this Super Pet CritterTrail Classic at PETCO and they are connected. I can't find the exact cage because it is over 7 years old. |

Dont use a metal wheel with bars as it will hurt the hamsters feet and can be dangerous |

That's pretty normal - they make nests. Can you put in extra bedding or give her tissues or newspaper scraps? No fleece though. |
