they need protien, if you give them a good pellet they should be fine a piece of meat would ensure it though.

No you don't have to feed them any meat, mine only get a piece of chicken occasionally.

mine never got meat, i never knew they ate it...weird! even tho they did have a cracker sometimes, which they loved.

My hamster Bullet (he is no longer with us ) Used to eat crickets I would put them in his cage and watch him chase them around. It was very good exercise for him.

He loved them, it kind of scared me how much he enjoyed it.

All our hamsters never got any meat, but we occasionally gave them scrambled eggs. Some of them even went without scrambled eggs and they were all happy and healthy.
