Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I have recently adopted a hamster, a syberian dwarf to be exact. I believe that she is a female but I am not too sure. She is only 1 ounce at the time and is about 6 months old. I have her in a zoo zone 1 and she is happy. I am wondering if this is good or if there is something bad about it? Here is a picture of the zoo zone cage like mine ![]() and here is a link to my pic of my new girl, mickie. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/100_0418.jpg Last edited by Jess Z; 03-18-08 at 06:22 pm. Hi there, your hamster is very cute! That cage actually doesn't suffocate the hamster as others may think. However it's still doesn't give enough ventilation and believe it or not, it's actually a bit small. Have you thought about a bin cage or maybe a large aquarium? I use a bin cage for my hamster Cammie (Carmel Cameo), It's really too small so i will be expanding soon. HeraHero, Mary, Hera, Cammie and Frito |

The ZooZone 1/2 are actually very good cages. That along with the Gabber Rex are great for hamsters who bar chew and you can't stand the noise. Make sure the hay rack is out but apart from that it's really nice |

I personally think it doesn't have nearly enough ventilation. I would move her into a larger cage with bars rather than plastic. (Just be sure to check the spacing-you don't want an escapee hamster!) My brother recently adopted six hamsters and we put them in my guinea pigs old pet store cage with chicken wire on the inside so they couldn't get out. It works great, and its plenty big enough. Of course, you don't need something THAT big, but bars rather than plastic would be better for Mickie. Very cute hamster though...very cute!! |
