Re: Fleece for hamsters Hamsters are notorious chewers and will most likely chew up the fleece. You're best bets are aspen chips or Care Fresh.

Re: Fleece for hamsters I would only assume they would eat that too. But I'm not too experienced with hamsters, I had two minature ones but they didn't live very long.

Re: Fleece for hamsters Yeah, only use Aspen bedding, or there are special types of bedding made especially for Hamsters, but Aspen is best. I use the Alfapet brand because it's so soft. But remember to never use pine. There are harmful chemicals in the pine bedding, and I think cedar, too.

Re: Fleece for hamsters No material, no fluff (both can be fatal if swallowed) and, if you can avoid it, no wooden chips or shavings (have had problems with allergies in sensitive Syrians and irritation of the lining of their pouches). Carefresh is probably the best bedding for the floor of their cage. If they have a small hamster house, plain unscented toilet paper is the best option - they adore shredding it.

Re: Fleece for hamsters I started with the Carefresh on my last hamster when he was getting quite old. Bailey had started losing most of his hair, and when I took him in to the vet, I was told that it was a sign of his age. Upon closer examination, they also found a tumor in his belly. We decided not to traumatize the little guy with surgery, so I fluffed up his cage with the Carefresh to make it nice and soft and warm against his mostly bare skin. I tried putting the rest of a bag in Percy's cage once though, and he hated the stuff. He actually pushed it all to one side and laid down on the bare cage floor. Pigs are just wierd sometimes.
