Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 The absolutely disgusting things people do to get ahead of the competition. So upsetting, those poor horses! This made me cry, those poor babies did not deserve to die that way. Today Show Video Player FOXNews.com - Veterinarians Blame Toxin in Death of 21 Polo Horses - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News Its sickening they are going to just resume the competition. They should have cancelled the whole thing in honor of the horses. Last edited by lmarieaa; 04-23-09 at 01:02 am. |

I heard about that story the last few days. That's terrible. I wonder if it was sabbotage or if it was someone not doing their job. Either way, someone needs to keep a closer eye on the others, something like this shouldn't have happened. Simply horrible! |

From what I've seen, you're pretty far ahead of yourself in saying that these horses were deliberately poisoned in some way. The vet in the Today report you posted said he thought it was very unlikely that they got some sort of tainted shot. Horses can be very sensitive to things they ingest - it's also very possible they ate a poisonous plant in their pasture or something, completely accidentally. It's very sad that they died I think we ought to wait before deciding they were killed by the competition! |

I just found this in another article, they were injected with what they think a tainted dose of Biodyl. All the horses that died were injected with it. They think someone in the labratory may have done it. Vitamin Suspected in Polo Horse Deaths |

I agree with blackarrow. I've had horses before - they are very sensitive to everything. The littlest plants can cause a downfall. I do not think they were deliberately killed because of a competition by another team so they could get ahead. If you re read the article it said "as they were being unloaded" which meant they were coming from their home areas. |

Wait a minute - if this turns out to be the problem, you're still implying that someone deliberately killed these horses, and I'm not seeing where you're getting evidence of that in these articles. It could just as easily be that someone made the formula incorrectly. |

Drugging horses is not unheard of when it comes to showing them though and competing. I don't deal with horses or anything but I work with a lady who rescues and shows horses and she had one of her horses drugged at a show. |

I didn't say it was unheard of - but it still doesn't suggest that someone in the laboratory was trying to kill horses. |

Well if someone just wasn't doing their job then that will have to be addressed in the lab. Do you think that if all these horses were drugged that they would let it leak out to the public? There are a lot of things that go on that we don't even know about. I'm sure we won't know the full truth unless it truely is a mistake in the lab. |

I don't get what you're saying. It's leaking out to the public that they allegedly took something - from their own handlers, not from their competitors - right now. |

Ultimately what they got, according to the media, came from a lab that may have improperly set up the meds. All I'm saying is that we will probably never know if it was on purpose. I have my own oppinions with the news media. I don't believe everything it reports. It tends to leave out facts sometimes. |

I never said they did it, I said may have. Like I said, no one really knows what happened exactly. I'm not pointing fingers. Horses are dead, something went wrong, people are trying to figure it out. It's tragic. |

If they find it was deliberate, they won't tell the public that it was. It will always be an "accident" no matter what they find out. |

No, that does not follow. It would be better for the company to pin it on some individual and say they were deranged than for the company to say it didn't have well trained or careful employees or good quality control procedures. |
