Socks was euthanized today after a long battle with mouth and jaw cancer. Not many people know but Socks was a stray that was adopted by the Clintons' daughter, Chelsea. He was spotted in many White House photos as he was given free reign of the living areas of the W.H. He was a character and a silent advocate for stray animals everywhere (he appeared at many animal charity events) and he was obviously well loved and cared for for the nearly 20 years of his life. It's so sad having to put down beloved pets! I heard last night on Tv that Mickey Rouke had to put down his Chihuahua. Apparently he use to take him to award shows and the whole shebang. It was 17 years old! |
