I agree, that is disgusting! How can she say it's the same as piercing a human? Humans choose if they want it or not, animals have no voice (at least that humans understand) I hope her reputation is smashed to bits and she's never allowed near animals of any sort every again. It doesn't matter how "good" she took care of them and how "well" she took care of the piercing, it's flat out torture. |

I can't explain how angered I am. I'm just beyond words. That is in no way the same as piercing a human. Humans make the choice on their own to pierce themselves. Animals don't. And I'm pretty sure no animal would ever want to be pierced. I'm just tired of people like that. She is right. She is ruined, because of what she did to those cats. It was wrong. |

There are also a lot of main arteries and veins in the neck, she's lucky she didn't kill them! I hope she pays dearly for this! |

I hate to think there are people in this world that are like that, and think that way. It just sickens me! |

Oh my! What was this lady thinking? I can't believe she thought there was nothing wrong with that! Poor kitties! What makes people hurt living creatures? I honestly don't get it! It's disgusting. |

That's awful- but it brings to mind something else. She pierces the animals' ears and tails to look nice, people crop ears and dock tails to look nice (now, it used to be for a purpse). I think the piercings are awful and pointless, don't get me wrong, but there's not outcry or charges over removing body parts. |

Completley agree. This is absolutly appalling. I doubt she gets a year in jail and/or her liscence suspened for pet grooming. The sick part is that she doesn't think she's doing anything wrong. And who said people don't mind getting their ears pierced? I know people who screamed when they got theirs done. I didn't find mine the most plesant experience either. And she peirced there tails? Does she pierce her butt or lower back? Didn't think so. |

I was scared to get my ears pierced, but it turned out fine. I was 17 last year when I got my ears pierced for the very first time, and I did it for prom. Prom was what finally got me to get my ears pierced, L0L. Yeah, I would venture to guess that this lady needs to be locked up in a mental institute, but since that will never happen, I hope like everyone else on here hopes, that she gets in big trouble, and at least gets her grooming license revoked. I think the kittens will probably be okay once the wounds heal, but I hope they soon forget that it ever happened to them. And that they get adopted into a happy home! |

If ears are cropped and tails docked, it is supposed to be done by a vet. Otherwise it is considered animal cruelty. I still beleive it is wrong unless done for the health of the animal. I think the only exception is for the feral cat colonies. Around here when they are spayed or neutered, one ear is notched (by the vet) so that it is clearly visible that cat has been altered. Part of the contract for adopting animals from the local shelters and rescues says that you will not cosmetically alter the pet you adopt. |

Wow. I am against cropping/docking. I have a minpin who was already docked (tail) when I got him as a pup but I didn't have his beautiful ears chopped off. Seeing this poor kitten with the bar through his neck- how uncomfortable! I am mostly bothered by that and the tail piercings. The ears don't bother me as much as many animals wear ear tags, like cattle and even show cavies. But that is disgusting. |

Poor kittens! You might want to add a warning to that link because that picture is very upsetting. I agree with AnimalHouse36, she will probably get a slap on the wrist. It is a good thing this went public so her grooming customers are forewarned. |

This story just left me totally dumbstruck - that's hwy I couldn't post anything else when I posted it. I think what horrifies me even more than what this woman did, is all the people standing up for her! I've read various versions of this article on a number of sites, many with people's commonents posted immediately afterwards. The general consensus is "what's the big deal" because we choose to get our own piercings, or because we do other things to animals... Here is my view: Many people choose to have piercings - myself included 6 holes in total. But this is a choice. I got my piercings because I wanted, knowing that it might hurt a lot to get them done, that it might hurt for days afterwards or that they may become infected. I personally do NOT agree with forcing piercings on any one else, and this includes kids. I had my ears pierced at 14 / 15, with my parents permission. I certainly would not take a child too young to make such decisions to get it done. Other "procedures" done to animals. Docking and cropping - well what can I say. Mutilating an animal in the name of human vanity is sick and wrong. I am completely against both. Fortunately in the UK ear cropping is totally illegal. Most docknig has now been banned (except for certain breeds, and then only if the breeder can prove they are likely to work). Even so, it must be done by a vet - and a number of people have been prosecuted for doing it themselves. I also object to declawing on the same principle - it is only done for human arrogance, vanity for their furniture! Cats are extremely popular in the UK (most popular pet I believe at the moment) and declawing is illegal here - so there is no excuse. Some people also commented on neutering! I mean seriously - neutering SAVES LIVES. It prevents various health problems, breeding (which adds to overpopulation and death) and can also help with certain behaviour problems which may otherwise result in euthansia. And again - this procedure is always done by a vet, with the appropriate anaesthetics, pain relief and aftercare. At the end of the day this moron stabbed these kittens. She knowingly caused them pain and suffering. She knowingly put them at risk of infection. And for what? Because she thought it was cute and would make her some money. Finally - the thing that bothers me most of all?? On at least one ad, the kitten came complete with a silk submission leash to attack to the neck ring! I'd like to see her yanked around by her piercings! |

I agree crazywiggy. What I'm getting at is, if it is an animal or small child I don't like it to be done because they can't voice their opinion, that and if the kid is like 8-9 they may change their mind when they get older, like in their teens. It doesn't have anything to do with neutering or spaying same as what crazywiggy said on it. I don't like cropping/docking, either. The dogs who have cropping/docking done, to me, look cuter without it done. |

Just to clarify, yes, docking and cropping must be done by a vet I do realize, but I was just getting at that it was the same principle. Both are unneccessary, cosmetic procedures causing pain to the animal. I wish dockign and cropping were illegal here too. But something for health reasons like nuetering is necessary and practical. |
