Thumbs up Sarah McLachlan's done it again! :D

https://secure2.convio.net/aspca/sit...y8h50q1.app23b

Click on that link to view her new video, also for the ASPCA, like the last one with her "Angel" song was. I just got this in my email. She is such a good singer, and she really does a nice job with these ASPCA commercials. Her last one with the "Angel" song usually makes me tear up, and the first time I saw it on TV, I was having a bad day anyway, and I cried.

This one made me tear up also! I think it would be a great, tremendous idea if we could get her to do a commercial/infomercial about the plight of guinea pigs, because commercials are always focused on dogs/cats. It would really help to spread the word, and she could also mention this website, guineapigcages.com, as a place to go to get more information. People who come here b/c of the commercial could read through all of the sticky threads in "The Kitchen". I mean, maybe it's just my opinion, but Sarah McLachlan would make a very convincing commercial to naive people out there.

And we would find some footage for use on the commercial, too. Now that would definetely make my eyes well up with tears....L0L, I don't know if I could watch an entirely cavy-focused commercial like that...

I'm going to contact T about this idea.

Re: Sarah McLachlan's done it again! :D

I can never watch those videos: they're too depressing. Whenever I can watch a whole video I always increase my payment to aspca and the next day I usually spend a few hours volunteering at our local adoption agency. Looks like I know what I'm doing tommorow.

P.S. That would be awsome if she could do a cavy based commercial and recognize this forum.

Re: Sarah McLachlan's done it again! :D

5guinea5pig5: xD You cracked me up! They have these commercials for the Western Carolina something-or-other ministries (homeless person shelters), and one of the ones on now has this guy crouching on a sidewalk, shivering and shaking. He's only wearing pants and a white t-shirt, and everyone who walks by puts a band-aid on him, until he has like 5-6 band aids on his face. This tear-jerking (when played with the commercial) song is playing in the background, and then the announcer comes on and says something like "sometimes a little help really isn't any help at all". Now, I totally feel like baking a hoard of cookies for the homeless, and dropping them off at this place that was advertising (it's in my area). I saw that commercial, and I was just like you.

internetjunkie: Oh my gosh, I know exactly what you're saying. I found the complete "Angel" song by her on napster, and listened to it, but found it hard to do so! That was after I already saw the ads, but the song about some girl named Sarah (by Rascal Flatts), I heard that entire song before I saw St.Jude's commercials on tv, and then I saw the commercials, and then the song came on the radio again, and I just couldn't help tearing up and getting a lump in my throat.
Yay! Nirvana-lovin' guinea pigs! What could be better, L0L. Thats a great song, I stopped listening to Nirvana several years ago for whatever reason, I should listen to their songs again....I always liked them, I can't remember why I stopped....Aw, and I bet Kurt Cobain would've loved cavies! I mean, I know almost nothing about him, but maybe if he owned some cavies, they would've made his life a little better.

Anyways, thanks everyone so far for the feedback! I've emailed T, and we'll just have to wait and see what she says.

It would be amazing if she could do a commercial for the forums.

Re: Sarah McLachlan's done it again! :D

Those are just to sad. But it stinks they only show cats and dogs when there are rabbits and guinea pigs and horses, and birds, without homes ,too.

I get $250 this year for my birthday.....well actually $500. I'm supposed to donate only half. I was dabating whether to give it to that foundation or this one... looks like I don't get any spending money. *shrug*, stinks for me!

Re: Sarah McLachlan's done it again! :D

I always start to cry when I see those commercials. I wish I could donate but I can't for at least a year or two, and when that happens I'm upping the money I donate here too. I just can't stand to see animals suffer like that.

AnimalHouse36 - maybe think about finding somewhere local and smaller that you could donate to, too. There's not just the big charities out there- but special cavy rescues or other specialty animal rescues that could do a lot (more even..) with the money.

Just a thought.

O gosh, this made me tear up. I had never seen the angel one before so I looked for it on youtube and that one got me crying. I wish sometimes they would show other animals too to show that guinea pigs, horse, rabbits, and many other animals suffer too.
