Can you imagine how much it must have cost to feed them all? It said they were well fed, although very dirty and some missing paws! I'm just speechless.

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

I just saw this on the AOL front page. I was just shocked. Apparently, they aren't even pressing charges! That is the thing that makes the the most upset. Those people deserved to be punished; I don't care how old they are.

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

This is in my town. Just about 2 weeks ago, there was also a raid on a dog fighting ring and siezed over 150 pitbulls. Right now our Humane Society and our Animal Control is overwelmed. Both have called out to Tucson for help.
They hope to adopt as many as they can out. I myself, can not even fathum this. I thought 150 dogs were bad, but 800.
this was an elderly couple raising small dogs, up to 2400 dollars apeice. They have a website that makes the dogs look real cute. Several people from here have gotten the dogs and they have been sick. That is how the couple got turned in. A lady that bought a dog took it to one of our local vets and she and the vet turned them in.
I am so upset over this. I will try to help in anyway I can. My son and his wife want to adopt one of the dogs as soon as the Humane Society releases them.
I don't agree with not pressing charges. Ok, a couple of litters may be getting out of control and you seek help. BUT 800 dogs????? That is not knowing what is going on. Give me a break.

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

If I had the room, I would be over there in a heart beat trying to help out. We just don't have the room or time for another dog..

However, I am going to put the word out around my college. Maybe if I can get enough people interested in adopting one of the shelters/resuces here can take in a few of the dogs.

Do you have any idea where the other dogs are going, if they cannot all the placed in the AZ shelters?

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

So so sad. I can't even imagine that number of animals living in and around a house. It's disgusting to think that anyone could keep that many animals for so long (including 82 cages parrots!) in such horrible conditions with no repercussion. Sigh.

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

Right now most of them are at the Az Humane Society, some have been adopted already. This weekend many more are going up for adoption. The local radio stations and news are all updating daily. So thereis a huge adoption drive going on for this weekend. One of the news stations did a money drive and the city has responded very well.

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

Ok, just watched the local news. 50,000 dollars has been raised. 300 of the animals have been sent to Phenoix and California shelters. 500 people lined up to adopt dogs this morning. It seems all dogs have
been spoken for to be adopted. Many are pregnant and more will be up for adoption as the puppies are born.
Nothing was said about what was to be done to the elderly couple

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

Many dog rescues have taken a bunch in. 800 is a lot though. Many are sick and have health issues. Many females are pregnant and/or have already given birth so the numbers are increasing.

Is there any news on the poor parrots?

I don't get how people can buy pets online from breeders like this , unseen. This is what you are usually supporting.

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

Have you heard the news?

On aol, they said that people swarmed the place to adolpt the dogs and were told to line up and take numbers. Whats disturbing me is that all over the world dogs are seized by the hundreds and yet you never hear about people swarming to take thoes dogs???? The center told alot of people that they didn't have any more to give out. I bet you not a lot of them turned their attention to adolpting a nother dog from somewere else.

I like the idea that alot of the dogs got rehomed, but it's depressing to think that they might only be interested in THOES dogs.

Proud owner of three dogs herself; Gi Gi, Sady, and Toco.

Re: 800 small dogs seized in AZ

I think sometimes people don't think about getting a/another dog until they hear about a situation such as this and they want to help. I thought it was a good thing so many stepped up to give these dogs a chance at a better life.
