Animal control...or lack there of... I just got home from brusters and starbucks but a dog was lose in the parking lot. My family stayed for around two hours trying to catch the dog and calling animal control. A cop came out but said he couldn't do anything but wait for the dispatcher to respond. We called animal control and their response was we can't come out right now, it's after hours. I'm trying to report the incident to someone who can do something, but I'm not really sure where to go other than PETA. Its ridiculous for animal control, my tax dollars, to say they can't help when thats what they are there for.

Re: Animal control...or lack there of... I'm not sure of the breed but it looked like it had dalmation in it. I look for a rescue group of that breed or one that rescues mixes.

Re: Animal control...or lack there of... I hope you were able to get that dog to safety. The Animal Control departments around here are pretty apathetic as well. At the State Fair, in the building where I was working, a bat flew in and was zooming around during daytime, over the heads of hundreds of fairgoers. Animal control said they couldn't do anything--it apparently was the fair staff's responsibility to catch this potentially rabid, obviously diseased bat. In another incident, my friend noticed that her dog was growling at something outside on her patio. She reached for the dog's collar and some clear fluid dripped onto her hand. She looked up, and saw that on the patio roof, in broad daylight, was a drooling, obviously rabid raccoon, which had dripped saliva onto her hand. She got her dog inside, washed her hand, and called Animal Control. They said to call back if it was still there the next day. Our tax dollars at work...
