They are testing the idea at a store in Phoenix.

Unhappy Re: Petdumb breeding their own rabbits to sell.

It just gets worse, I bet that the adoption numbers at rescues and shelters will drop as people will see it as easier to buy from pet dumb as you put it. Did you see the figures to the right of the page, rabbit surrenders? I can't seem to stress to people enough how important it is too think before you speak (think before you buy), yet I see so many people surrending their pets.

Its not going to last. Its bad enough that animals die in petsmart (in our) care, how in the world is pet care associates going to be able to deal with breeding?

Re: Petdumb breeding their own rabbits to sell.

Yes Petdumb has started selling rabits at our local store here in Phoenix. I hope it doesn't last. I'm quite tempted to go up to the manager and shove him the photos and descriptions of the millions of pets for adoption in the rescues around here in Arizona.

You should do that.

I am very very tempted to. The only reason we go there now is to buy crickets for the toad. Mom said we can start buying all the pets' food online so we don't support Petnotsosmart.

Re: Petdumb breeding their own rabbits to sell.

I almost didn't buy anything at Petsmart, too when I saw the bunnies. I was so irritated I almost dropped everything I was carrying. Unfortunately I was totally out of food and on vacation, so it's not like I had a real choice. Grr. You should protest. I was going to, but not being local I wouldn't be able to follow up. They also had appallingly bad info about the birds there and I barely was able to keep from yelling at a little girl the sales associate was trying to butter up for a conure. "They're really loud, messy, and that one needs its head groomed" was all I managed to get out before I had to walk away... *sigh* If I wasn't worried about bringing diseases home I would have asked to 'try out' the birds to give them some relief.

And they're still in stores. When will PetDumb ever learn?
