Mike Vick involved in dog fighting

Just curious how many had heard about Mike Vick and 3 other acquaintances (sp) being charged with dog fighting and gambling. From the news reports he wasn't only grooming dogs to fight when he decided he didn't like a certain one he would drown, electrocute, or beat it to death. Nothing humane about the way he handled these dogs. And if I am not mistaken can't pro football players be expelled just for betting? Not that this is the worst offense against him in anyway. This would be considered a felony if he is convicted, right? Sure hope so, if he has little regards to animals well being how long would it be till it escalates to something more?

I read about this too, and it just disgusts me. In my opinion, there is no punishment harsh enough for this monster.

They can be suspended for betting on football games, but I'm not sure about other types of gambling. He's probably going to be kicked out for a year at least now that he's been charged.

What an . He deserves whatever he's got coming to him. And as a public figure he should know better.

Re: Mike Vick involved in dog fighting

Why can't pro athletes ever settle for rich, famous and successful? Nothing like a little cruelty to make one's life fulfilled.

I beleive I heard he could face serious jailtime. I would guess his career is over, and well it should be. Sickening.

edit- I don't think the NFL will actually prohibit him from playing until there is a conviction. Right now he is only being charged.

Yeah it is pretty sad about this. I live in ATL and could careless about him or the Falcons. No one likes him here. I am more of a baseball fan myself. I would say though that none of the dogs or puppies can be rehabed it is in their mind to fight and kill so they are not safe for anyone. That is the really said part.

He has actually been indicted! I knew the man had 0 honor, when he lost that civil suite for giving a girl herpes. It was announced yesterday, that an indictment was handed down for his involvement with dog fighting. I personally hope that they (censored by myself...no words cover what I hope they do to him)

Be well!

Re: Mike Vick involved in dog fighting

Yup I heard about the herpes thing a while ago. Eww.... anyways I hope he goes to jail for this. He should... Then he won't be able to play anymore. What has he done for the team anyway, he is just like T.O. Worthless.... Vick MAY be an ok player but he doesn't have good character or morals. As a role model for young kids he is not a good one.

I hope they throw the book at him. I wonder how long he has been fighting dogs? Has anyone been following the weslter Beniot murder/suicide case? That is also a disturbing case.

Re: Mike Vick involved in dog fighting

Yup that is also a sad case. Considering he gave the little boy Xanax I think it was premeditated. If you want to die so bad then take your own life and not involve anyone else that is having a good life. It was on Nancy Grace again last night and I think fox news too. My kids watch WWE and we had to explain what happened. That was really a great thing to have to explain(being sarcastic) They would have found out anyway from it being on the TV.

Re: Mike Vick involved in dog fighting

He sort of has to take a leave of absence. You can't have your starting quarterback going back and forth for court dates. It disrupts the objectives of the team. Afterall, his first court appearance is scheduled for the first day of training camp.

Re: Mike Vick involved in dog fighting

I just read the story today! Here is what I read about the case...

A federal grand jury indicted NFL star quarterback Michael Vick and three cohorts on felony dogfighting charges.

The abuses described in the indictment are almost beyond belief, and include a report of Vick being consulted before the execution of a losing dog "by wetting the dog down with water and electrocuting the animal."

The indictment also describes the "execution of approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in "testing" sessions ... by methods including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."

Local authorities began investigating the dogfighting case after an April 25 drug raid at property owned by Vick, according to the Associated Press. On June 7, officials with the Department of Agriculture with help from state police executed their own search warrant and found the remains of seven dogs, the article reports.

I got sick to my stomach after reading about this. How terrible

Re: Mike Vick involved in dog fighting

I heard about it too... Here's more about it, and it's a campaign to get him suspended: Take Action: Tell the NFL to Suspend Michael Vick!

Quote:
In a raid conducted on April 25 and 26, local and state law enforcement officials found 70 dogs—including at least 60 pit bulls and many dogs who reportedly were neglected, scarred, and malnourished—on quarterback Vick's rural Surry County, Virginia, property. Some of the animals evidently bear scars and injuries, and paraphernalia commonly associated with dogfighting—including a "rape stand"—are also said to have been found on the property.

Angry Re: Mike Vick involved in dog fighting

This angers me beyond belief. I saw the video and then they said that he had used Golden Retrives as "bait dogs". I cried. Goldens are so trusting. They are breed to love and protect their human family. It kills me to know that those poor dogs allowed him to do this to them and probably didnt even have a chance.

I hope they put him in prison and the ASPCA is allowed to confiscate his home, land, automoblies, bank account, ect., and use it for animals. That would be justice.

I hope they permanently remove this waste of carbon from the NFL.
