Re: Simply Horrifying

Oh my. Thats horrible. Why would anyone do that? I could never do that to a poor little puppy. They should've gave him more time.

Re: Simply Horrifying

How anyone can be that insensitive is beyond me! I wouldn't feed an alive pinkie mouse to a snake - let alone an alive 3 week old pup.

I saw a video on a website where a pack of lions in a zoo were fed 2 alive donkeys. This was in Iraq.

I know animals do that in nature but when they are caged it is different. Sometimes the prey escape but in a cage or a tank they have no chance!

Re: Simply Horrifying

I totally agree Myspoiltpiggies. It isn't survival of the fittest with domesticated animals. That is apalling. The articule is right. If he is desensitized to the plight of an animal, I cringe to think of how he would/is treating people. Working in the mental health field, this raises huge red flags. I can't believe two fifteen year olds watched. That poor puppy, what a terrible way to die.

Re: Simply Horrifying

That is the most horrible thing that I have heard of in a while..people are so sick and that man deserved more than 90 days! How anyone can do something like that is beyond me. The sad thing is that since he will be out of jail soon he will most likely do something like this again. You can bet that this sicko has a history of animal abuse and neglect.

Re: Simply Horrifying

In 2002 a teacher (of all people) was going to feed puppies to a boa constrictor. The puppies were "donated" by a school board member that runs an animal euthanasia shelter. CNN.com - Biology teacher wanted to feed puppies to snakes - March 1, 2002

It happens all the time because people are ignorant. Any teacher that feeds a live animal to another in an attempt to "educate" is only teaching cruelty. here is nothing you would see that cannot be viewed and learned from a nature film and if you want to show the "real thing" you can do it with pre-killed prey. Most snakes will strike and constrict and eat pre-killed in the exact same manner that they would live.

Re: Simply Horrifying

This is a perfect example of why people who buy pets should be carefully screened and forced to go through proper care training. It makes no sense that the process to buy inanimate objects is exactly the same as the process for buying a live, feeling, breathing animal.

Re: Simply Horrifying

I appreciated the quote at the end of the article: Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said in a statement. "Experience and empirical evidence have shown that people who commit cruelty to animals are more likely to commit crimes against people."

It has been my experience that someone who would abuse a dog is likely to be abusive to anyone smaller and weaker. I agree with you HowietheGreat that it is a danger sign of how this man would treat humans.

Re: Simply Horrifying

Im not trying to sound like a cruel person, but I feed frozen pinkies to my snakes. The only difference is that those mice where humanely killed, before being frozen and sold. I have a hard time feeding the mice, but I enjoy my reptile very much and is something that I have learned to cope with. Now, out of 13 geckos and 4 snakes, I only feed the snakes the mice, whereas I used to feed all my reptiles one once in a while as a treat. But, being so desensitized as to CONSIDER feeding a dog to a boa is horrific.

That's not cruelty, its not their fault they're not herbivores.

The only time a dog ever should belong in the gullet of a snake is if a wild snake were to be so fortunate to happen upon a wild dog. That's nature for you.
Larding up a puppy to feed to a neglected snake. That's sick.

Re: Simply Horrifying

There is a big difference between feeding frozen mice to your snakes and raising animals yourself so you can have the pleasure of killing them. There are people who enjoy killing things. Those people should be avoided.
