"States Cracking Down on Puppy Mills"

Here's a link to an article about puppy mills:
States cracking down on puppy mills - Pet Health - MSNBC.com
I'm such a baby with these types of articles. Some of the examples bring me to tears. Thank goodness there aren't any pictures. I think we should all do our part in our own state to support bills against cruelty to animals. (It's sad that guinea pigs don't get the same awareness as cats and dogs, however)

Hooray! I got chills reading parts of it. People seem to care more for dogs and cats with this sort of thing, but if we get a precedent for punishment with those species, then there will (hopefully) soon follow similar legislation for all species.

Re: "States Cracking Down on Puppy Mills"

Arkansas has a lot of puppy mills. They are being shut down slowly but surely. There were several major ones in nearby towns that have been shut down in the last year.

While it seems that my state doesn't have much of an overpopulation problem with cavies and some other small furries, we have major overpopulation problems with dogs and cats, especially due to the puppy mills and cats running lose. There are feral cats and even some domesticated pet cats all over my town that are left to run rampant and breed.

They have a Humane Society here for dogs/cats and they even offer very low cost spays/neuters but many people here are too cheap and lazy to have their pets spayed/neutered.
