Besides, haven't you noticed when the dogs attack, they're usually in 'packs' of 2 or more and they usually aren't fixed?
Surprisingly enough the bulk of the attacks (be it people or animal) we see are labs. We have euthanized two labs just this year for attacking their owners. Their owners were good people too, but you never know.

I am taking my pit in tomorrow to get his vaccines...on his rabies tag I fill out "lab mix" because you never know with all the pit bull bans going around what may happen.

Pitbulls, Rottwielers and Akitas can all be super pets but one problem that owners have is that insurance companies will either raise their property insurance premiums or refuse to insure them because the dogs have a bad reputation. I'm not saying it's fair, just that insurance companies do this.

My Mom who is 82 babysits for her neighbor's Akita. This dog is wonderful, beautiful, patient and big and strong. This dog wouldn't hurt anyone unless maybe in defense of her owner. She could certainly do serious damage if she chose to though, so I can sort of understand why some people are afraid. If you want a Pitbull, I would suggest checking with your insurance company and also making sure that your neighbors know this dog. Don't let it run loose either, because this is the first kind of dog that dog wardens will pick up.
