Re: Article on new bill in CA I think it should be passed. People that are breeders or dogs that cannot be under anesthetic just need to get a permit or a note from the vet. This will eliminate alot of problems. ![]()

Re: Article on new bill in CA That is one of the most biased pieces of reporting I have ever seen! It seems as if they interviewed a bunch of back-yard breeders AND most of the article is just untrue. This law is a total step in the right direction and I hope it passes.

Re: Article on new bill in CA There is a lot of discussion on a national pet law elist that I'm on. Here is another letter. http://valleynews.com/SunValley/Stor...ry~288494.aspx After reading the text of the bill, it's not as easy as "just getting a permit." There are impossible conditions to be met, and many working animals who are from unregistered lines would have to be altered. It also says that they need to be altered by something around 4-6 months. You're not always going to know if an animal is going to be a good service animal or police dog by that age, and training doesn't even start yet for many dogs at that age. It doesn't affect most of the problem, which is feral cats, and owners who just don't care and wouldn't get their animals registered anyway. I'm pretty sure that most cat owners in California wouldn't register their cats, it's not currently required in most areas.
