I'm so upset, having just watched the news. Apparently someone in my area threw a kitten out of an apartment window today. He is still alive, but badly injured, needing hundreds of dollars worth of vet care.

I'm so angry, and so sad. It seems I never get used to hearing about these kinds of things, it bothers me for hours afterwards everytime. I just DO NOT understand people.

It's a shame that people take their frustrations out on animals.

It's not fair. They know that the animals are too small to defend themselves and it makes the people feel big and mighty that they can be cruel to something that is defenseless. I hope this person goes to jail or serves some kind of time for a LONG time and learn their lessons.

It's disgusting. Also on the news tonight was a story about two cats being left outside the local shelter (probably to avoid paying the ten dollar drop off fee), and the last week has been unbelievably cold--like -30 with windchill. The cats' paws were frozen in blocks of ice.

Not so much anymore, but usually in all kinds of weather, they will just leave it tied outside by their house on a metal chain all day long, even all night. Total neglect. I think police officers should go out searching for people who chain their dogs up outside and threaten to ticket them if they don't bring them inside or at least have a warm doghouse to go into with water that isn't frozen solid.

Yeah, my neighbors don't have a dog house, only when it rains they hang a tarp up for it. They shouldn't have gotten a dog if they're just going to leave it outside it's whole life. It makes me mad.

Exactly! Why bother getting a dog if it's just gonna sit outside and do nothing. I feel so terrible for the dog's that get thrown outside in the cold or hot weather to do absolutely nothing but sit and be chained to a tree all day.

It's ill-legal to have a dog on a chain in AZ. gpigluver14 that needs to be reported to the police or your local SPCA. That is totally cruel to for the dog. If you are where all the snow and cold weather is, it is even more important to get the dog some help.

We have a dog chain but we only put out dogs out so they can go to the bathroom and stuff then there right back in. And on good warm days we have a pen so they can run around and play with eachother. They also like playing in the snow but we don't allow them to be out to long because we know it must get cold for them after awhile.

They don't leave it out in the winter though, thank goodness. They also have a cat which they just leave outside all the time, and it's declawed. But we let him inside our house to eat and stay inside when it gets really cold. (Shhhhh...They don't know that...) They should not be pet owners.

And people wonder why animals are afraid of humans. I can't understand people who'd even think about doing that, never mind doing it. I usually feel horrible being born a human.
