Angry "Good Samaritan" Breeder

This just makes me angry that a breeder is getting good press for donating a new puppy to a woman whose dog died from someone poisoning it. This woman shouldn't be given any credit for taking a home away from a dog in a rescue or promoting breeder's causes. Things like this just help make breeders look good in the public's eye. And why can't she give her last name? What's she afraid of?

Owner Of Poisoned Dog Given New Chihuahua - News

There is a link at the bottom of the article to the story on the dog's poisoning. Another thing that makes me sick. Why would anyone hurt someone's beloved pet like that?

Re: "Good Samaritan" Breeder

She named the new dog after the old one? Thats like naming your child the same thing after one of your children dies...And I don't understand why you would put another dog in the same situation when less than a month before your dog was poisoned. They are not even thinking of the previous dog or the new one. They are just thinking of "that poor woman". What about the poor dog that had that happen to her?

And then there is the fact of a purebred chihuahua. What is the point of having a pure bred chihuahua? And yay for the breeder for having compassion and giving her merchandise away!

edit:
Oh and I just read that other story. It happened on a saturday and she didn't take her dog to the vet till WEDNESDAY?!?!?!? Yeah, she's just like a child to her!

Re: "Good Samaritan" Breeder

On Saturday she knows that the dog ate something out of the backyard that she didn't put there the dog gets sicker over several days before it goes to the vet. A child could put 2 plus 2 together in my opinion. I wonder how much time the dog spent alone in the backyard on any given day. I have a mini doxie that weighs about 5 pounds, I would never leave him alone unattended in the backyard because of the threat of hawks or eagles, or him getting out. I saw an article related to this one that I can't find, with "neighbors" interviewed that claimed that the dog was out all hours yapping (Chi's do that alot when bored). There is speculation that one of the neighbors may have been involved. Again alot was heresay, I understand that, but even the article that was supposed to paint the owner in a positive light didn't. As far as being "Good Samaritans" the breeders probably just condemned another pet to a wonderful life alone in the backyard and little vet care. I also wonder if the vet told her to put the animal down or if she didn't want to pay the money for supportive care until the dog was well again. It seems to me, if the dog had survived that many days, it stood a much better shot with fluid therapy of a complete recovery. Due to the fact that the dog made it through that many days also leads me to believe that had it been initially treated, it wouldn't have had to die.

This is just typical of these stupid dog owners that give us good ones a bad name! My neighbour nakmed her dog after the one that died just a few days before too.

Re: "Good Samaritan" Breeder

I should have read the poisoning story better. I heard about it on the news, so I didn't read the link. She didn't take the dog to the vet for three days???? On the air they were talking about how much she loved this animal and treated it like a child, then someone poisoned it, blah, blah blah. She and the breeder deserve each other. Too bad there's a puppy involved.
