My Sweet Jasper

My little boy passed away yesterday around noon. I can't say it was an unexpected death, but it came so quickly. Jasper started having problems a year ago with his teeth, and then after being put down for a trimming one day, his doctor had noticed an irregular heart beat. Much expensive medicine and plenty of hospital visits later, we had him going on the right track. Unfortunately though, he was old...about six years. As we all know, we can only keep the piggers going for so long.

Friday, I noticed his chest was very puffy with fluid. I brought him into the doctor, but of course there wasn't much we could do. Tried some lasiks on him but he didn't make it until his next appointment, which was scheduled for tomorrow. He died Saturday afternoon in his bed.

I'm so proud to have kept him going for an extra year. If I had not put the effort and love in, he would have been gone a long time ago. I'm also very proud of him for putting up such a strong fight. He survived his younger cage mate who died of kidney failure suddenly at the age of four.

Jasper loved lettuce and bananas, loved to say good morning and good night, and was very vocal and responsive. He will be missed.
