My beloved Oreo

Never thought I would come back on here, just because I didn't really need to look at cages or anything...But today, well today I just wanted to come here again for one reason. My second guinea pig, Oreo, died sometime last night. Somehow I knew that yesterday would be my last day with her, I held her for a while but had to let her back down. She was seriously sick, discharge in eyes, she had lost almost all her weight(I could feel her ribs), she wouldn't eat, and hadn't gone to the bathroom. The only vet around here for guinea pigs could only get her in today, but Oreo didn't make it there in time... I remember getting Oreo just a few months after my first pig, Moonlight, died. I was excited to get another one, and just couldn't wait. I picked the first one I saw, and that was Oreo. She was my best friend, I told her everything. I would hold her every day for HOURS at a time. I was so upset to wake up this morning to the sight of my 6 year old pig lying on her side, motionless. Now that she's gone, I really wish I had taken more pictures of her. I have only four, which is not enough to capture all of my love for her. I will miss you very much, Oreo! I wish I had known you were sick sooner....I'm sorry...

Awww, bless her. I am so sorry to hear this. It's always heartbreaking. She's better now, though, her little piggy spirit is popcorning all over the place!

I am so sorry for your loss. My guinea pig died last week and I blamed it on myself. Don't do that to yourself. From what I saw on this site, it seemed like you really loved her and you were a great mom. She is watching from up above now and crossed the rainbow bridge. You gave her a great life and tried your best.
