I lost my beloved Chloe
I lost my Chloe on 3/29. She was 6 1/2 years old. She was my sweetheart and now my heart is broken. She started getting sick, and I did everything I could to help her get better. I gave her nebs. I syringe fed her. I gave her medications. I held her and tried to comfort her. I consulted with the vet. Yet, I still feel guilty as though there was something else I could have done. I'm certain that is normal, but it's hard second guessing myself. Then, I think about the day she died. I woke up and knew I had to check on her. Within a few minutes she began the dying process. I picked her up and held her. She died in my arms. It's almost like she was waiting for me before she felt it was ok to go. We had such a special connection. I hope she knows I did the best I could, and how much I loved her. I miss her so much.

Re: I lost my beloved Chloe
I am so sorry for your loss. 61/2 is a wonderful lifetime for a piggie. I am so glad she waited for you before saying goodbye. It is a tribute to what you shared. I am very sure she knew how much you loved her.

It is a privilege to have such a special bond. She loved you and waited for you before she had to leave you. There is no need to second-guess yourself. Only time can heal your grief, and turn it into fond memory without pain. It is bitter-sweet to love and lose a pet. My condolences.

I am so sorry to hear about Chloe. What a special bond you had with her for her to wait to say goodbye. She lived long and by her actions can tell she was very much loved.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Don't second guess yourself, you took her to the vet and gave her all the care you could. At 6.5 years, it was sadly just her time to go.
I hope you find comfort in the special bond you shared. She certainly knows she was very much loved.

I'm sorry for your loss! Death is such a sad thing. When we took my sister's piggy to the vet, the vet said that she sees a lot of 2 year old piggies that are in bad condition! So you know you gave her a long and happy life.

Re: I lost my beloved Chloe
I adopted a female guinea pig today. I somehow found myself going to the humane society and instantly bonded with a little piggy who snuggled up against me and licked my face. Is it normal to feel guilty? Chloe has been gone only a month, and I'm not trying to replace her or make the grieving process go away. I just needed to take this little one home. She is 1 1/2 years old and has already had two homes. She is so sweet and needs someone to love her. I don't even know what is normal. How long someone should wait. Is it wrong to grieve someone I loved deeply and at the same time adopt someone else to love? Is it normal to feel guilty? I still miss my Chloe, but this little one grabbed my heart. I guess I just need some reassurance that it's ok.

Re: I lost my beloved Chloe
Please be reassured that although Chloe will always be in your heart, there is room for another piggie there. There is no 'minimum time' you have to wait before adopting another little one. She needs you. You can provide for her. She is a different little being from Chloe, but equally worthy of your love, and you should cherish her. Life is too short, in my opinion, to let grief deprive us of giving our care to another pet who needs us. Chloe is frolicking with her friends now and you can still think of her fondly. Your new little girl will be another adventure. Don't feel guilt, feel love.
