As some of you may know i was to rescue Rocket from a rescue 300miles away. He was neutered last tuesday. I opened my email this morning to find this.
Hey Maggie,

I'm afraid I have some bad news for you. Our lovely guinea pig passed away yesterday. We don't know why he died, only that he had passed away when the girls went to feed him yesterday morning. It was a full week after the surgery, which went well, and he'd had antibiotics to ensure there'd be no post-op infection, so I honestly don't know what happened to the poor little guy. Maybe he was an older piggy and the surgery was too much for him. I guess it could be anything. I know piggies can be fragile but I felt neutering him was worth the risk for the wonderful life he was going to have with you and his new friends Princess and Poppy. So please don't feel bad.

I'm so sad and so very frustrated as it's next to impossible to find piggies here. I guess the hunt is back on again. R.I.P Rocket .

Oh my gosh Poppy, I am so sorry. I know that you've planned so well for his home coming that he was yours already. He will rest in peace and you'll find a critter to join your girls eventually. Hugs.

Thanks everyone. I feel partly to blame. If i hadn't wanted him neutered he'd still be alive. I honestly feel that i killed him just so that he could have had a life with my 2 other piggies.

Maybe it had nothing to do with the surgery, don't be so hard on yourself. Everything happens for a reason. R.I.P Rocket.

Don't feel like it is your fault...you have no idea the age or history on the little guy. He seemed to do fine with the surgery so it it probably had nothing to do with it.

Bless his little heart! I'm so sorry Poppy, he was adorable, and I know you were really looking forward to getting him! You will find another one to give an awesome home to, just keep looking dear.

I am sorry also. I am sure there is a piggie waiting for you out there. Sometimes it is just not meant to be. Please don't feel badly, it may not have been the surgery at all.

Dont blame yourself, you dont know what was wrong with him, you were tryin gto make the best for him-its not your fault at all. Where are your from? I am sure you will find one soon to add to your family.

Sorry for your loss...
I know how happy and excited you were about him. You "popcorned all over the kitchen."
You loved him so much even though you never met him and didn't know anything about him.

I am very sorry for your loss, it must have been so frustrating and heartbreaking after going through so much for him to then have him pass away like that.
