I've had Fred for almost 5 months now, he was the sweetest, most well mannered guy, my FIRST pig that I actually got from a CL teenager who no longer wanted him. He was active, playful, and didn't show any signs of illness or anything!!! I found him yesterday when I got hom from work in his hidey house, GONE.  I just don't know what could've happened, he was fine, eating as usual, no weight loss that I noticed (I had been weighing him weekly). God, I can't quit crying!! I got so attached to him so quickly, I miss him SO much!!! I'm wondering if the girl I got him from really didn't know how old he was, she was saying 1-2 years old maybe more, but seemed really unsure. I don't know, I just miss my baby!!!       |

Oh wow, I'm very sorry. One of the really unfortunate things about having pigs as pets is how hard it is to tell that they're sick sometimes. Please don't blame yourself and know that you gave him a great home with lots of love, even though it was only for a short time. |

Oh sweetie i am so sorry. There has been many passings the past few weeks,hamsters,cats and piggies. They are all together on the other side. Safe and happy. |

I'm so sorry for your loss!! I teared up just reading this. I lost my piggy Lily after only 8 months of having her (I was also very attached). Piggies are very good at hiding any symptoms of being sick so don't blame yourself, you saved him from someone who didn't want him and loved him so much more. Just think about how happy you made him in those last few months. |

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine for the life of me the feeling of coming home to find a beloved friend gone. Fred was so fortunate to have had an owner who provided a wonderful home and lots of pig-love. When my pig passed away last summer, it took me a while to get thru his passing...it was like loosing a human child. The pain was unbearable...but with the support of family, friends and members of the forum, I was able to get through it. Before my husband and I buried Chubb's, I took some clippings of his fur and toenails, his blanket and kept them aside so I have something of him tangible to touch. I don't think the grieving ever fully goes away...I still grieve for him and anytime I see his picture, I cry. Your blessed as God gave him to you to care for him...he could have gone to anyone, he came into your life and for a special reason only God knows. I'm really sorry Angiekay that your Fred has passed on, you'll be in my thoughts. I wish I could be there to give you my shoulder...hugs from me. |

Oh, thank you to everyone for your words of encouragement and everything, I was hesitant to even make this post, as I knew it would be hard reading through the replies, and it is, it's just going to take awhile for the pain to subside. I see his pictures everywhere, I only have like 1000 of them. I can't even find the words to extend my appreciation for this forum, and all of your kinds words, I mean other people just don't "understand" being so "attached" to a gp like a regular pet, I don't have any real friends that would even begin to understand like my family of gp lover's here does!!!  Thank you! |

He might not even have been sick--it could have been a heart issue or another unforeseeable problem. I'm very sorry for your loss; he sounds like a great pig. You'll feel better with time! |
