Im sorry, but I just have to post as Im balling and feel like dying. One of my 3 guinea pigs just passed away in my arms, not but 20 minute ago, and all I think of is how its all my fault. I sat and held as she convulsed, and could do nothing for her but cuddle and tell her she was a good little piggie. I saw her weight going down for the past month, and have been feeding her with a super supliment, and feeding by herself, but I didn't want to go to the vet till I ruled out anything that i could do from home, I don't have money. But I think my selfish ways cost her her life  She just turned 4, she still should have had a few years to live, but it got taken away, and all I could do was say "Im so sorry Nibbs, this is all my fault." Im going to miss her, her beautiful little face, how when she begged for food you could see the small fleckes of white of her chest. How she use to run up and sit at the pellet bowl everytime I opened my closet. I am very sorry for your loss--that sounds really difficult. Have you been tracking the weight of your two remaining pigs? Are they losing weight too, or do they have any other symptoms of illness? |

I'm so sorry for your loss, it's very difficult when you lose an animal, just like looking a family member or friend. Our animals are our friends. I wish you the best of luck and i'm sure Nibbs is as happy as can be up at the Rainbow Bridge. May he RIP. |

thank you all for the condolences, my other 2 pigs, one young the other old, are as fit as a fiddle. I plan to buried Nibbs by our veggie garden, she was always my most adventerous eater! |

That sounds like the perfect spot to bury her. Keep a close eye on your other pigs and weigh them often. I cannot stress enough the importance of have an emergency fund of several hundred dollars in case another vet emergency arrives. You do not want to be forced to watch them suffer knowing that having done so could have prevented it. As you have seen, guinea pigs go downhill very quickly and there is often not much you can do without proper vet care. Again, I am very sorry you lost Nibbs. She sounds like a wonderful pig. |
