Last night I lost my dear little friend. I have a 2x3 open multi level cage:  My dad insisted to leave my door open to let the cool air out, despite our having a Jack Russel Terrier. We search for our baby gate but couldn't find it, so my dad put up a measly chair for protection. We went outside to talk to the neighbors and my mother wanted to show my friends little sister my new room. When she went in, my cage had been destroyed and she found our dog trying to get at something. She sent him out and called that the dog was in my room. I rushed in, and began searching frantically for her, calling her name. I finally found her stuck (outside of her cage, in between in and my couch. I cried. She was buried by our chicken coop in a shoe box with a taped down post it note that read "Her lies Bella, my baby girl. June 30, 2009 to July 26, 2009" She was buried with a carrot and a basil leaf.        |

How awful for both of you! I'm sorry, but I'm so mad at your Dad! I'm sooo sorry for you and Bella.(Can't be mad at the dog-he's only being natural! Still sad though! Sniff!) She's safe at Rainbow Bridge now though!  Last edited by Wheekie; 07-27-09 at 11:16 am. Reason: Want to add something |

I'm sorry to hear about your pig. I know you suggested that you plan to get a new pig (or pigs) sometime soon. I hope it works out that you're able to adopt a (hopefully pair) soon, but before doing so please do everything you can to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. You mentioned that the dog had attacked other rodents previously, and I agree that it isn't the dog's fault but please make sure it's absolutely safe before bringing another small pet into your home. Again, I'm sorry about your girl. |
