Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Coco's time finally came. She was a character ever watchful of my every move. I called her my "Street Smart" piggie because even when fresh veggies and hay were to be had she'd always have her eyes on me. She fluttered both ears simultaneously like dumbo when she slept and even in her sleep her eyes were open. She was my only short haired piggie and I loved to watch her hop away because she had the cutest little rump and feets. It was her backside that I noticed she looked dirty. I picked her up tonight to give her a bath and was going to change the fleece. But I noticed something was VERY wrong she had something ping pong ball sized hanging out the bottom of her. I instantly knew it was not good and put her down. I noticed she kept her hind legs up high as to keep that area off the ground. I called the ER Vets in our area and brought her in immediately. On the way there my chest was tight and my throat was dry I am totally mellow jello all the time. But with situations like these I am very sensitive and get panicky and light headed. In the hour we walked in did paper work and sat in the Dr.s office waiting I had drank 3 bottles of water and went pee twice He advised us that it was a prolapsed veejay and there was a tumor as well. She was just over 7 years old. We had decided against surgery as it wouldn't be possible tonight she'd have to wait a day since it would need an exotic pet specialist. Also the Dr. we saw is very knowledgeable with small pets and said that piggies tend to not recover from surgeries well especially at her age. I felt it was the best thing to do to put her to sleep. At that point I knew it was best but I started to feel a lump in my throat and I was light headed and had to leave the room. I came back to say goodbye to her. And then had to go outside for fresh air. I don't mean to be dramatic and I totally wasn't expecting to be so worked up about it. She will be sorely missed and I know she went gently. They give gas first so that she was mostly asleep and out of it before giving the shot. We got to take her home and will be buried under the tree where she used to graze in the sun. Rest in peace my cute little girl ![]() |

Thanks everyone. We put her in her cage so the other 2 could see she had passed. The Dr. had said that it's good for the others to know she is gone. I never would have thought of that. But it's a good idea, it was so sad watching them discover her though |

The sad part is too that the girl I adopted them from was going to visit soon before going to college. Now I have to tell her the sad news. She was only adopting out the piggies because she was leaving for college so it will be hard :[ Luckily though I took some movies and a photo shoot for each pig only like a week ago like the pic above is from. So I guess I was meant to capture her last happy days. I just wish I'd gotten a video of her dumbo flitting ears while sleeping it was precious, I guess I'll always have memories but I would love to be able to share it : / |

I am so sorry for the loss of your Coco. It doesn't matter how long we have them, how big or small they are, our furbabies touch us in a way that will never be forgotten. You weren't being dramatic (I think that is how you put it), you were saying goodbye in your way. Goodbye Miss Coco-Rosie, you were sure loved! |

My Gizmo will have plenty of friends to play with and I know God will take care of all of our little family members. Just Absent from our lives...but never absent from our hearts... |

Good bye Coco-Rosie you were a cutie pie. Big hug for mama piggy I know you are sad but you have to think that now you can provide a loving home for another piggy that is all alone in a shelter. |

Ha Ha! I love her super model picture! What in the world is a prolapsed veejay?! Never heard of that! (My Goco was all black and brown, so I think Gizmo will be able to tell them apart!) |

Thanks for the support everyone ![]() Quote:
![]() And it was a cornsilk wig and she got to eat it afterward but out of my three she wore it best. We buried her today next to our rose bush quite fitting to her name. It is a shady spot right next to where their graze spot is so she'll be close to my other two piggies :] |

My Bad! Never even thought of that! Still never heard of that tho'! What caused that to happen? That was a perfect spot to bury her. Keep picturing her at Rainbow Bridge though with My Coco, My Sunshine, Oreo, Gizmo, your other piggies and your hamster! |

NP it was kind of a childish way to censor it . She had a tumor and I guess it was inside and then she or it was pushed out and basically extended it. That's the way I understood it at least. And now she has left her cancer behind and is in the clouds and sunshine with all the other little piggies :] |

It wasn't childish! Oprah calls it a veejayjay! That's why I feel so dumb for not knowing what you were talking about! Thanks for explaining how it happened! Makes sense...still awful though! But she's fine now with all her friends! |
