Unhappy Sleep well Gizmo

As it usually starts out "Oh His just a guinea pig, just get a new one" No, No it's more than that.
Guinea pigs live up to ten years. So full of personality, just like dogs, they can be trained and respond to commands. When I moved out I wanted to Love something (other than bryce, to make our family complete) I saw Gizmo, the last one in the cage, just waiting for me...well it seemed like that. I brought him home, he was the most loving, and snuggly. He always responded to treats, and for the short time he was around he was Loved, more than he would have ever gotten anywhere else.
He was getting sick, and fast..I went to work knowing that his last few hours were going to be that night, Frazzled and out of my mind I had to go... I went on lunch to make sure that he was still alive when I came home. I told him to promise, "Dont Leave without me" And He Held on until I got home and ten minutes later he passed..Keeping his promise.
He had an un-noticed case of worms that I didn't catch until his last days. I took him to the vet, the only one I could find in town that does small animals. He found the worms...and it was too late. He went peacefully in my arms at 8:00pm July 8, 2009. We burried him shortly after.
What an impact these little guys can leave on someones heart, an everlasting Love and a bond that will never be broken. I love you baby, you were always my first Love, Please sleep well...

Re: Sleep well Gizmo

I'm terribly sorry for your loss, I can totally relate. My first pig, George lived until a ripe old age of 7, and I was giving him a cuddle one night and he seemed a little off, and I just knew that it was his time to go to Rainbow Bridge. I miss him

I'm so sorry. It's almost unreal how much love these little guys inspire in us, isn't it? Another resident at Rainbow Bridge...another pal for My Coco and My Sunshine. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Re: Sleep well Gizmo

It's so sad. Thank you for loving him. Guinea pigs have a way of popcorning into our hearts and peeking out once in a while to say, "WHEEEEK!". He knew he was loved and he knew he needed to wait until you were there to say goodbye.

Re: Sleep well Gizmo

Yeah that's what has been keeping me the strongest... He waiting for me to get home. He knew I didn't want him to leave without me being there (and I couldn't Put the Hub through that alone) I still have my other piggy, and I know he's feelin' it too. I've been taking extra care to make sure he's happy and comfortable. I have found that the more I talk about it, the better I feel, so Thank you guys, I know I've been kinda AWOL here lately.. Just a lot going on-along with this, but it really does mean a lot, I'm glad I'm not the only one to be this crazy inlove with my piggies!!
thank you.

Aww my Coco just passed tonight. So their will be two. Coco's full name was Coco-Rosie though so hopefully your Gizmo won't get them confused.

I'm so sorry for your loss I cried and got light headed and I thought the Vets have probably never seen a grown man react that way to a "Guinea" pig. But looking back I'm sure that they were amazed at how much I cared. They actually thanked my boyfriend when we left because we did the right and caring thing. They said most people just leave them in the cage to die which is so sad.

Anyway I know what you mean by "It's just a....." I do have a dog but I have a hamster and fish too and I love them all just the same :]
