Take Care Pooh

Today I lost my 3 year old plecostomus. He was 15'' long and lived in a 55 gallon tank with my Oscar who is 13'' long. I raised them both from when they were just 3'' long. He was my favorite fish and very special to me. I know it's just a fish but I am really devistated. I spent over 50$ on medication for him and it didn't help. He started out having cloudy eye, and I drained the tank completely and it went away, then he just got sick again. My oscar is fine and probably happier since they weren't the greatest friends. I think I might donate my oscar back to where I got him and take my tank down.

Rip Pooh. Swim somewhere better!

Re: Take Care Pooh

I'm really sorry that your Pooh passed awa . It doesn't make a difference how big, small, long or short a pet is. All of God's creatures are gift's, unique to it's own in beauty and personality. I know though Pooh was a fish, Pooh was genuine and special to you. My daughter worked in a petstore, this story may sound a little silly but she was walking by a tank of fish, another store worker grabbed some feeder fish to give to another fish to eat. As this particular fish tried to eat these 2 feeder fish, Sarah...my daughter, reached in the tank and grabbed these two almost eatened fish that already had some bites taken out of them....so, she brought them home to keep. She doesn't know why she did it, can't explain it even. These 2 tiny feeder fish are now huge 5 inches plus and were placed in our fish pond in our front yard for the summer. Message...things in life happen for a reason that we just can't explain. There was something special about Pooh that you cared about him so. I feel bad that your taking your tank down. If it's because your sad, then wait a while. I lost my favorite piggy last summer...I'm still grieving for him, I loved him dearly and I know too well the sadness of loosing something we love and enjoy. It's a beautiful picture you posted. I would print it out and frame it and keep it in his memory.
God Bless

Re: Take Care Pooh

I'm so sorry for your loss. Pooh may be "just a fish" to a person, but for you he was more than that. I used to have a small fish tank, with 3 goldfish in it. I hated cleaning the tank, so it would always be dirty . One day I come home to see Lorie (my smallest fish) flotting on top of the water. I was very sad, because it was my falt she had died, I should have taken better care of her...
After burrying her, I took my 2 other fish, Bizon and Candy, to my neighbors house and asked her if she would keep them in her pond.
Now, they live a happy life in a large, clean, pond with lots of other friends, but I often think of poor Lorie who never got a chance to live in a big pond...
I hope you feel better soon, and don't forget, Oscar is still here, and you might just find out that he has much more love to give then you thought (because, I think, fish can love just as much as we can or piggies can).

Re: Take Care Pooh

I have not had fish before, but I definitely understand that it doesn't matter the type or size of an animal or the stereotypical "importance" of a certain animal, all kinds touch our hearts and leave an impact on their owners forever. I think it's a great idea to frame his picture like someone said above. I'm so sorry for your loss. May Pooh rest in peace and be swimming somewhere happily.

Re: Take Care Pooh

I am so sorry about Pooh. I was sad when my Glo died. It was too crowded in there tank. Same thing with Dorthey the goldfish, my friend's fish, who lived 10 years. Mine lived 3 weeks. R.I.P. Pooh. Swim well.
