I syringed fed him last night and gave him water, however, he was having difficulty breathing still after second dose of medication. He passed away last night. I am now going to try to locate a piggy who needs a home or find a breeder who takes good care of their babies to find Snickers a buddy. Thanks for all the advice you gave us. I am going to be weighing Snickers daily to make sure he does not fall prey to the same condition. He is eating well and zooming around his cage...so far so good. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Though please do NOT consider a breeder. I have not met a truly responsible, respectible small animal breeder yet. They are very rare to find for any species. Please consider adoption, there are more then enough that need homes. |

I have checked craig's list, the paper, petfinder, etc, but have yet to find any in my area. The closest is Sarasota and they are over 2 hours away and they have not emailed me back, so not sure they will travel this far (they like to match present piggy with a buddy they will get along with and check out living quarters). Any ideas welcomed. |

Call any local humane societies/rescues. Kijiji Look in the For Adoption and post in the Adoptables here. Just because you can't find one right now, doesn't mean you should go directly to a breeder. Be patient and keep looking. Your piggy isn't going to be affected if it takes a few months to find a friend. Going to a breeder your taking away that home from a shelter animal. You can always go to rescues, or meet a rescue half way etc. I find its better to do things by calling vs. email. |

That's so sad to hear, my sympathies to you. Just a thought, if you adopt, you could say you did it in her memory and give a homeless piggy and good start at the same time. Take your time, you just lost one and you may be hurting a bit. Good luck finding another! |
