My foster pig Vanilla crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday afternoon of unknown causes. She was around 6 years old and I had had her for about 15-16 months. She was repeatedly used as a breeder pig when she was young.

So now I am back down to 2 pigs again. They are my original two pigs that I started with, Chatty and CoCo. It also seems weird to only have two since I've kept a herd of pigs for the last few years. But I have decided that I am not going to take on anymore pigs unless there is one in dire need. Each one that passes, it gets harder and harder to deal with.

You gave them such a wonderful life! I'm sure all your pigs appreciated all that you have done. It's hard to lose a buddy and I'm sorry for your loss.

i cant even think of having my pig go. i will miss him so much.

so sorry to hear that you lost your pig, at least you gave her a wonderful life before she left.

Oh Ly, I am so sorry to hear about Vanilla. I know, its so hard to lose one. I am sure she was so grateful that the last 16 months of her life was with you. What a lucky piggie.

I am sorry for your loss... sending huggs your way.

Hope that this New Year will bring many happiness & health to you and all your piggies.

I am wishing it to myself too... a New Year & many happiness & health...

I just have my first ever loss today at my Vet (New Years Day too; figures!). My new pig "quarantined" over there during the Christmas weekend just died of a stroke this morning (she had seizure problems per her past owners and is overweight, but they never ever took her to the vet or anything).

I was going to get her back this weekend too.
I think I will just bury her at the family's farm atop a hill facing the nice pastures. She would like that...

--that is why I guess I am browsing over here... feeling so listless.

Losing a piggy is hard. I have lost a pig not too long ago, so I know how it feels. I am sure your piggy had a good life.
