Pickles

Struck down by a sudden bacterial infection, she passed away within the hour I had her at the vets on June 15th, 2008.
I was overcome by shock and grief, so much so that my father offered to dig a grave for me and bury her for me. I replied with:
"It was my responsibility to look after her and I'm not done yet."
And with another bout of tears, she returned back to the earth where all life begins.
One of her sons, Gherkin, is nearing the end of his battle with the same infection, kept company at the vets by Maggot, his brother and cage mate who is in good health.

I am so sorry. It is so sad how fast Pickle passed.
