Pompey Pig

We lost our Pompey pig, who was not even two years old, at the vet. He was scared by the vet tech, who treated him rough and our piggie died of a heart attack. We wrote the vet a letter and told him what we thought of his lousy service. It is a hard lesson to learn, but you cannot trust even those working in a vet's office to know how to handle guinea pigs--so beware! We buried Pompey in our yard. We miss his friendly little, sweet face.

The vet tech referred to our pig as a squirril and swooshed Pompey through the air instead of close to his body, frightening Pompey and making him scream in terror. After putting Pompey back in the carry case, my wife and I waited in the examiniation room over an hour for the vet to come in. When he took Pompey out of the carry case, our beautiful piggie was dead, the vet said from a heart attack. We feel so guilty taking him to the vet (we thought he was scratching and might have mites), and we never thought we would bring Pompey home in a box. We loved him because he always made us smile and we are still crying because he died right in front of us. Just be careful who handels your piggies at the vet, make sure they are gentile, and know how to handel a pig, not like the clown in our ex-vet's office. Good luck with the girls.
