Sophie has slipped away Well .... she had the operation for ovarian cycts and the bladder stone, but she didn't wake up from the anesthetic. We are shocked, we were really hopeful for a recovery. We will miss Sophie so much. She came to us in December 2004 after being rescued by a friend from his next door neighbour, who was ill herself anf could no longer care for Sophie. She loved her cuddles, rarely ran away when being picked up and was the only one who would let me kiss her nose. She is burried in the garden now with Daisy, Doris and Amber. It's really hard .... she was our most cuddly and the last few days I was feeding her critical care to build her up for the op ... we really bonded there, I won't forget her sweet little face.

Re: Sophie has slipped away Thank you so much ... it's good to come here and be amongst people who love them too. I feel such a ninny at work, 37 years old and in tears over a guinea pig, but they have a way of burrowing deep into your heart. The past two days have been a bit funny ... chasing back into the pen, counting to make sure no-one is left out. I get to one, two, three, four then pause and remember.

Re: Sophie has slipped away Pumpkin you're right! My parents refuse to have pets because they say it's too upsetting when they die. But they are missing the point of all the pleasure looking after a pet brings. The trade off is of course that you will see them go, it's a fact but just serves to remind us to count our blessings and be happy for the good things. One of my favourtie quotes is "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".
