Herbie, our last piggie...

Hi all,

John and Max here (now a rambunctious 17 months old) to let you all know that Herbie, our final piggie passed away today. We came back from lunch to find he had died some time during the day. He now has a nice spot in the strawberry patch in the yard next to Ichibod.

We went from 7 piggies to zero this year. We found homes for Piggly and Wiggly, the two lethals. And we re-homed Sandy and Ray Ray. Pig Pen went back to her owner ( my ex, who is finally against backyard breeding that her mother does). I don't think we will be getting any new pets anytime soon.

I'm sorry to hear that... its never easy to loose a pet. I also understand why you might want to take a break... I'd feel like that if I lost my pigs.

why was he outside though?

I believe he means he is barried in the strawberry patch next to the other piggie who has passed away.

I am sorry for your loss. Were the other piggies foster piggies, or you just decided to rehome them?

The two lethals we took in rather than see the previous owner put them to sleep (the vet's office called us when their owner came in asking about other people who would take them rather than doing that with them). Sandy and Ray Ray were adoptees which we could no longer keep as we were looking to move, and Pig Pen was Mine/Ours when my ex moved out and could not take her at the time.

All of our pigs were indoor pigs.

The cause of death was choking. He had stuffed his mouth full of bedding, and couldn't get it out. Nothing had changed about our routine, we just feel that it was a dreadful accident.

Oh man, I am sorry I misunderstood...

That is really scary, that they can choke on bedding. I see my pigs nibble on carefresh once in a while and it always makes me nervous...

It was Kaytee Pine, which I've used before with out problem. There may have been something else, but that is as much as I can determine.

That is why I use towels. My little pigs like to nibble the Carefresh. I am sooo sorry for your loss.
