Henry Died

Hello,
I'd like to inform everyone that my guinea pig Henry died on Thursday November 1st. If anyone remembers his brother Herbert died a year early and Henry has had a few surgeries. He was 6 years old. I think he had cancer because he had a lump, but the vet was not sure. I was not expecting him to live much longer but we recently moved. He and my cats were flown out a week earlier than us. Then we arrived Thursday and in the car my mother told me he died earlier that day. I was devasted. She knew he died earlier and did not tell me because she did not want me to be upset in the airport. I think that was irresponsible of her. I would have wanted to know when it happened. It was not a very good start when I had just moved to a new place. I just wanted to notify everyone.

I'm sorry about Henry, I'm sure he was a great pig. Hopefully things will start to work out for you, I know it's hard moving in the first place let alone having a pet pass away. Hugs and good luck.

I'm so sorry...and with all this change in your life, must be really hard. But you'll get over it!
Thinking about all the good things that my pig brought me helps a lot to accept her death easier.

And try not to get upset with your mother...she was probably only trying to make things a little easier for you. My mother did this when my grandpa died, he passed away during the night, but she would call me to tell about it just in the morning, because she didn't want to wake me up to tell such news. But I found out about it before, and asked her not to do it again.

God bless you and little Henry. I cannot imagine what you are going through. The loss of a friend is so hard to bare but please talk to us as we will be your support. I know you wanted to know right when it happened because I would have wanted to know to, but being right in the middle of the move and being at the airport, I believe your mom did the right thing by waiting for the appropriate time to tell you. It's a delicate and sensitive issue and being told at an airport, I think, would have been too much to deal with. It sounds as though as though Henry was having some medical issues having said that he's had several surgeries. You must have really cared for him well that he lived so long which is a wonderful thing. I am not looking forward to when the day comes I experience the loss of one of my pigs...I am dreading that day. But I cherish each day I spend with them. Remember the good times you shared with him and know that you gave him a loving home. He is in a place now where there are no more illnesses, where there is peace, love and warmth.
