I miss you sweet Baby Elvis

....Elvis, our guinea pig, and the father of the babies passed away yesterday. I left Thurs morning for a camp trip with my daughter, and my friend came to check on them Thurs night. She said he had diarrhea and was very listless. I was back by Fri lunch, blitzed it home, he looked really bad. My vet was off, and I called about 7 vets before I found one that could see Elvis--20 miles away. By the time I got him to the office, he passed away in my arms in the waiting room. I have cried so much. I actually feel physically depressed. I know we have four more, but they aren't Elvis. I talked to our regular vet this morning and she is going to try and call the other vet to see if she can get his little body to do an autopsy to see why he died. I don't know if it is too late though, because he was going to be cremated and I was going to bring his ashes home.

God, I never realized how quickly these little guys wiggle their way into your heart and how much it hurts.

In memory of Elvis....our little poser, our happy guy, our baby. We'll miss you so much sweet angel.

I`m so sorry for your loss. Elvis sure is a cutie pie. Looks like he knew he was to. I really am sorry. They really do have a way of stealing our heart`s. It does hurt so much I won`t lie. Don`t hold it in cry for your boy if you need to. Your in my thought`s. I hope your feeling better soon.

Elvis was quite a looker. That picture is totally adorable. It's moments like those we need to cherish. I'm so sorry for you loss. I really do hope you're feeling a little better. Thank you for sharing him with us. Take care!

What a handsome fellow, hang in there, I know how you feel, I lost one of my boys on the 13th of this month, his picture is my avatar. I miss him so much, I didn't think I would ever stop crying.

I am so sorry for your loss I know how hard it is to lose a piggie. To tell you the truth no it will never go away but it will eventually become less hard but I still cry when I think of my baby Fluffy. To me when he died he took a piece of my heart with him so it still hurts and always will. But remember one thing Elvis is over that rainbow bridge happily pop corning with other piggies and maybe flirting with some sows

The vet called and said that Elvis' ashes are ready for pick up. (Elvis died on Friday--he is in the memorial section.) I am dilly-dallying at work because I am dreading it. I still miss him so much and I wrote the doctor a nice thank you note with this collage on the front. He isn't my regular vet, but he was so compassionate and said he tried to resuscitate him , but it was too late. I miss him so much! (they don't get that kind of food anymore--now that I know better. They haven't for months now...)

That is a very lovely collage you have made, and hopefully with time you can remember him fondly and without pain. I'm sure he loved his life with you, even though it lasted only a short while.

I'm so sorry. I can say that I know exactly how you feel. And yes, it does get better. The depression will go away and you will think only positive thoughts of him, even though you will always miss him.

The picture of him with the fishbowl is really fabulous.

Things will get easier, just look at your little ones that you still have and love them more and more each day. Elvis would like that I'm sure.

I used to buy the guinea pig food that had things mixed in it--you can see it in the collage--there are orange flecks, and various things mixed in. Then I read how those aren't good and that the best food is Oxbow pellets, so that is what they get now. This site has educated me so much. (But that had nothing to do with Elvis' passing as I changed foods a while before he died.)
