| Re: Seb died Lucy, I am so sorry to hear about Seb. I lost my big ol' lab, Moose, April 14, 2005 and boy I was a mess for about 3 days crying. I took off days from both my jobs because I knew that I didn't want to be around anyone. Moose had been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma(sp?) aka bone cancer, two months prior. He got the best 2 months that any dog could ever want from us. Then sadly we had to say good bye. Even to this day I get teary eyed and that will never go away. (tearing up writing this right now) Seb will hold that special place in your heart and that love and friendship you shared with him will help you stay strong. Just keep remembering those happy thoughts. I am happy to see that your dad is looking at getting another dog so soon. This will help in his healing along with his other dog's. Some people think that replacing a loved pet so quickly is harsh, but for some it is a great way to get through the pain and sorrow. I myself had gotten a puppy right at the time that Moose was diagnosed with cancer. I knew in my heart that I would be devestated to loose him but I knew if I had a wee pup to take care of at the same time it would help with the pain. I also wanted my other dog Shadowfax to still have companionship after loosing her older brother. My heart goes out to you and your family. |

| Re: Seb died I am so very sorry for your loss. When my Jack Russell passed, it left such a hole in my heart. They simply do not live long enough. Your poor father, I can only begin to imagine his anguish. Do not blame yourself for less time spent, animals know when you love them. They seem to never forget. You provided him with the best home possible and obviously loved him. That is a gift to him that no one else had given. |

| Re: Seb died Lucy You Dad did a marvelous job on Seb's grave. It made me think of my Liz and how she will never ever be replaced no matter. Because of Liz, when I get back into a house, I will take in rescue senior Jacks. I am excited about the new arrival to the family. I really don't think you have a thing to worry about at all. He/She will be great for your Dad's dog. |

| Re: Seb died Quote:
I am still really cut up, and can't stop crying, but it does help heaving the grave like it is as I can still sit by him. Also a friend of dads (who also loved Seb) has made a really fancy cross with Seb written on it and the date he died - when we feel ready we are going to take it up to where Seb died with some flowers etc. As for a new dog, my dad has not yet talked about it with my mum, he is nervous that she will say no - but he always wins in the end. They need to get another in my opinion, as the other dog (we had him last night as my parents went out) is starting to get really skinny from fretting. We took him to a friends who has a dog and he really cheered up! Last edited by Lucy99 : 07-31-06 at 03:13 am. Reason: Wanted to add something |
